Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken the major step to enhance women’s education accessibility by offering transport facility to women’s colleges across Punjab. Rolling Out the Bus Programme in Phases
A total of 76 buses will be distributed among multiple women’s colleges across the province, in phases. This way, the buses will reach colleges systematically starting with the most deprived areas in transport. Phase 1: It has already provided 19 buses to women’s colleges in tehsils that had no transportation options.
Phase 2: More buses will reach by February 2025 which will reach more tehsils and regions.
Third Phase: The last phase of bus distribution will be done by March-April 2025 when buses and coaches will reach the remaining colleges.

Phase 1: Which Colleges get Buses
In the first phase of this transport push, it has supplied buses to as many as 19 women’s colleges spread over tehsils in Punjab. Some of the selected tehsils include Bhakkar and Sialkot in the northwestern region, Chiniot in the hilly and rural areas of the north, Kamalia, and many more in the fertile plains of central Punjab. It is these regions where students are facing troubles with transportation to reach their educational institutions, which by providing transport to these areas would open education for girls who could not regularly reach college otherwise

Phase II: Scaling up
The program will be scaled up to as many women’s colleges in the Punjab districts as possible. Buses will be provided for the girls’ colleges in tehsil Nowshera Warkan, Taxila, Raiwind, and Sarai Alamgir by February 2025. The third phase of the distribution is of paramount importance for scaling up the program because it could provide the scale of accessibility that may be preferred in more remote, less accessible areas.
The third leg of this transport project will ensure the provision of 2 more buses and 32 extra coaches to colleges in 35 tehsils. This will be implemented by March-April 2025. These buses will come to Allama Iqbal Town Lahore, Isa Khel, and other areas so that the girls from all over the province can get equal opportunities with safety and reliable transport.

Review of Future Proposals
During the launching ceremony, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif too accompanied the inspection of these newly provided buses and facilities.
